From 29 March to 8 April, EMpower’s Development Manager in Hong Kong, Jacqueline Chen, accompanied by Jeanette Won, Robin Sitoula and Scott Tan took on the 8 day trek to Annapurna Base Camp, reaching 4130m and joined by some of the most spectacular views in Nepal.
One of the most popular treks in the Annapurna region of Nepal, the trail took them along terraced rice paddies, lush rhododendron forests and high altitude landscapes with incredible views of the Annapurna mountain range.
Join us in congratulating their incredible efforts on this trek, and for raising over $10,500 for EMpower! It’s not too late to show your support!

WHAT GIRLS CAN DO!
We’ve learned that there are no limits and no boundaries.
EMpower’s work with at-risk adolescent girls globally is long-standing. Through substantive partnerships with major foundations, girl-focused networks and collectives, and on-the-ground work with local organizations, EMpower has developed a strong knowledge base in: developing and designing girl-focused and girl-centered programs; measuring girl-focused program results; including boys in a broader vision of the role of gender.
Adolescent girls in particular often face gender barriers and discrimination with deep cultural roots. Of our more than 100 grantee partners, many strongly focus on enriching the lives of adolescent girls. Our partnerships have enabled thousands of young women to stay in school, avoid early marriage and explore nontraditional job pathways. With EMpower’s support, most of our grantee partners have adopted a “gender lens” in their approach and/or actively engage boys in their work to reduce gender bias and barriers.
Credit Suisse in the US ran a ‘Jeans Day’ in support of EMpower, raising over $2,500!
Credit Suisse employees donated to EMpower to wear jeans to work on a Friday, raising awareness and funds to support at-risk youth in EM countries. Thank you to Credit Suisse for the creative way to change lives, and to all employees who donated!
