EMpower supporters came together on Wednesday, 8 March 2017 for an inspiring 8th Annual Champions of Youth Dinner at the Yale Club in New York City. Together, we raised over $502,500 to support at-risk youth in emerging market countries, with record-breaking participation!

After a 10-year partnership, EMpower was honored to recognize the impact of grantee partner Nishtha as a Champion of Youth. Fighting child marriage and educating girls in West Bengal, India, Nishtha empowers thousands of girls in 300 villages. EMpower Executive Vice President Cynthia Steele shared the sights and sounds of her experience presenting the award to Nishtha in person in February through a video.

We were thrilled to present Co-presidents Jennifer and Peter Buffett with the 2017 Champion of Youth Award to recognize NoVo Foundation’s commitment to empowering adolescent girls globally. Their words on the importance of investing in women and girls as the world’s most undervalued asset and the strength of the NoVo-EMpower partnership brought guests to their feet for a standing ovation.

The event was a beautiful celebration of partnership and the strength of the EMpower community. Special thanks to our Dinner Committee, Board of Directors, Underwriters, Challenge Pool donors and all our guests!
