On September 6, Senior Programme Officer Theodoros Chronopoulos was asked to make opening remarks at the launch of Salvus, a web based platform aiming to facilitate safe and confidential reporting of incidents of sexual violence as well as provide access to available comprehensive support services and information.

Salvus was developed by EMpower's Nigerian Grantee Partner HACEY Health Initiative (HACEY), with funds from the With and For Girls Award – a collaborative initiative aiming to find and support locally-led girl-centered organizations working with and for girls. EMpower has been a founding member of the With and For Girls Collective which is convened by the STARS Foundation and a manager of the award to HACEY. Aside from Theodoros’ opening remarks, the event included presentations as well as a panel discussion between Olubukola Salami, Director of the Office of Public Defenders in Lagos State, Itoro Anaba, Founder of the Mirabel Rape Crisis Center, Ada Agina-Ude, Executive Director of Gender and Development Agenda and Paul Ojajuni from HACEY.

Following the launch at Access Bank’s Head Office, Theodoros was interviewed by the Nigerian press. He spoke about the importance of confidential and accessible mechanisms like Salvus to improve the reporting of sexual violence.

HACEY continues to improve the health of under-served communities in Lagos, Nigeria, through education, advocacy, and public awareness.
