An EMpower supporter based in London, Amir Ben-Gacem, visited EMpower’s Russia grantee partner Big Change during a recent trip to Moscow. Big Change works with orphans and orphanage graduates so they can obtain an education, choose a career path and gain the confidence and skills required for independence. EMpower’s 5th grant to Big Change helps provide educational and transitional support to young men and women in residential institution.

During his trip, Amir was given a presentation by Elena Mazina from Big Change, on some of their great achievements and milestones they have reached. He also was taken to meet some of the youth in the classrooms. Amir told us he had a very positive impression of the organisation and that it was “quietly focused on its aim to offer continuous support to youth from deprived backgrounds.” He added,

“the success of their program also is reflected by the involvement of previous participants in the program, actively mentoring the next generation of students.”

Amir also noticed a very friendly environment, positive interactions between teachers and students and strong support by local businesses in books and IT equipment. “All in all, it has been a real pleasure visiting Big Change, and I would look forward to visiting them again during my next trip to Moscow.”

Thank you Amir for his feedback and taking the time to visit one of EMpower’s stellar grantees working to improve the lives of at-risk youth in emerging market countries!
