EMpower’s Learning Journey on Fundraising was held May 10-13 in New Delhi! This three-day workshop was conducted by EMpower’s Nisha Dhawan, Neha Broota and Jayanthi Pushkaran, for 12 of our India grantee partners. These grantees are either graduating from EMpower (have been a partner for 10 years) or are an organization who could benefit from developing strategic fundraising. The main aims of the workshop were for partners to grasp a better understanding of the landscape for fundraising (including from corporates) and prioritize strategies that work for them, while recognizing the importance of dedicated fundraising staff within their organization.

For Day 1, the aim was to map the fundraising landscape in India and the different strategies our grantees can employ to maximize fundraising. A panel discussion with some of our brilliant partners included CREA, Aangan Trust, LAHI, Medha and Azad Foundation.

Day 2 saw partners creating fundraising products, such as presentations and elevator pitches, and receiving feedback from one another.

On Day 3, grantee partners prepared a fundraising pitch and presented in front of two expert panels who provided them with feedback on the content, delivery and focus of their presentation. Panel members included representatives from American Jewish World Service, UN Women, Tony Blair Faith Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, McKinsey, The Asia Foundation and Paul Hamlyn Foundation

Thank you to all our panelists and participants!
