HK Board of Directors Approve $134,000 at EMpower’s Second HK Grants Meeting of FY2020

The final HK grants meeting of FY 2020 occurred this past week and Board Members approved a total of $134,000 in 3 grants, many of which incorporate COVID-19 related programming. Thank you to all the Board Directors that joined the call.

Below is a short summary of the approved grants that we are proud to support:

Partners for Urban Knowledge, Action & Research (PUKAR), India ($37,000 USD for 18 months): PUKAR works throughout Mumbai to empower youth and build their capacity through education and sexual and reproductive health training. EMpower’s 2nd grant to PUKAR will support 300 adolescent girls from 6 communities in Mumbai’s informal settlements gain knowledge on reproductive health, anti-violence, and prevention of early child marriage.

Azad Foundation, India ($47,000 USD for 12 months): Longtime EMpower grantee, the final grant to Azad will support 360 adolescent boys to complete gender training to become active advocates for equality in their community as well as develop and implement a mental health program to provide counseling to 200 girls facing COVID-related challenges.

REACH Centre, Vietnam ($50,000 USD for 12 months): REACH works throughout Vietnam to enhance youth’s employability and provide them with resources to success. will provide vocational training to 500 marginalized youth in 6 cities of Vietnam. The courses will include computer skills, English language courses and life skills.
