EMpower’s Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy

We have established a policy and set procedures to safeguard the children and young people our programmes serve.

Report Abuse

EMpower is committed to preventing abuse and promoting the safety, protection, well-being and development of all children and young people involved in the programmes it supports.

EMpower expects its staff, board members, consultants, interns and fellows contracted by the organisation, volunteers, external partners and visitors whom EMpower may bring into contact with children and young people as well as our grantee partners to have a strong commitment to safeguarding practices and observe the obligations placed upon them by our safeguarding policy.

As part of our Safeguarding Children and Young people Policy we have set up a Reporting Abuse mechanism to assist us identify safeguarding abuses related to our work.

What to Report

EMpower requires all grantee partners and encourages sub-grantees, services users and grantee partner staff to report safeguarding concerns.

Safeguarding concerns arise from incidents where individuals to whom our Safeguarding Policy applies fall short of their duties and obligations.

Safeguarding concerns may be submitted on a confidential basis and will be investigated to the extent possible. EMpower will endeavour to protect your identity but please be aware that serious allegations may require investigation by national or regional authorities (e.g. police) and we may be unable to guarantee confidentiality in all cases.

We accept anonymous reports but this may impede our ability to investigate the allegations.
