EMpower at Ford Foundation

EMpower proudly participated in the “Harnessing India’s Youth Dividend” session at A Moment of Shift, hosted by the Ford Foundation. The session highlighted the transformative potential of youth leadership and philanthropy in advancing gender justice and equity. Darren Walker, President at Ford Foundation, presented closing remarks. 

Simran from our Girls Advisory Council (GAC) and Nisha Dhawan, Ph.D, EMpower's VP of Impact and Influence, spoke at the session, emphasising collective accountability and sector-wide collaboration, local nuance, non-extractive ways of engaging young people, and the power of participatory grantmaking. Simran shared her experience of solidarity within the GAC, striking a chord with many in the room. 

It was inspiring to be in the company of trailblazers and friends: Pradeep Kumar from Learning by Locals, Prabhleen Tuteja and Asma Khan from The YP Foundation, Kanika Sinha from ComMutiny - The Youth Collective, and Swati Tiwari from IYRC NGO.
