Vice President, Global Development
This new, full-time position is based in London, will report to the President and be part of the senior management team of an established, dynamic philanthropic organization with a global footprint. We’re looking for a proven leader to guide the Development team responsible for the revenue enabling our organization to create impact and change the lives of young people living in poverty. EMpower’s revenue comes from a blend of major donor, corporate, foundation, events, and campaign support, with a historical and important focus on the finance sector. All sources present important opportunities for growth and require a visionary leader to work with the President and the teams to take EMpower to the next level.
EMpower, a global philanthropic organization, is dedicated to improving the lives and horizons of marginalized young people ages 10-24 in 15 emerging market countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Russia and Turkey. Through grants and other supports, EMpower partners with over 100 local organizations working to strengthen the education and livelihoods of young people, and to build their resilience, self-confidence and well-being. EMpower has offices in Hong Kong, India (Delhi), Singapore, London and New York, as well as program staff in Istanbul.
Essential to this role is experience of major gifts, corporate partnerships, high profile events organization and charitable fundraising campaigns. As this role works closely with EMpower’s regional board directors, experience and comfort working with senior professionals is vital.
You will work closely with the President and the development staff to create a multi-year global fundraising strategy and to execute on annual fundraising plans in each region. In this position, you’ll be both a player and a coach— coaching the development teams in the US, India and Hong Kong and supporting the achievement of their fundraising strategies. In the UK – home base – you also will personally identify and steward trusted relationships, and creating and building new fundraising strategies.

You will work in a global, agile team environment characterized by collaboration, recognition of each staff person’s contributions, and camaraderie and where excellence is expected. You coach two high-performers in London, and currently one each in Hong Kong, India (Delhi) and the US (New York).
