The With and For Girls Collective is proud to announce the winners of the 2017 With and For Girls Awards! The With and For Girls Awards is a global initiative which identifies and supports strong, local organizations working with and for girls. The 20 grassroots girl-led organizations selected are awarded for their work in tackling gender discrimination, inequality and harmful practices affecting girls all over the world.

Each organization being awarded varies in how they tackle pressing issues relating to women and girls today. Winners of the With and For Girls Awards receive flexible funding of up to US$50,000 and capacity building support. They will also join an existing network of inspiring past award winners, funders, organizations and individuals from the girls’ and women’s rights sector.

We are proud to announce that among the winners are EMpower grantee partner Feminist Approach to Technology, India, that promotes the inclusion of girls in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), and grantee partner Roots of Health, Philippines, which provides reproductive health education to youth in schools. Over three years, the awards process has engaged 80 adolescent girls as panel judges from all over the world to pick the winners, and in 2017 each judging panel was made up of adolescent girls from past award-winning organizations.

The 20 award-winning organizations will be celebrated at an awards ceremony in London on 14 November. Congratulations to all recipients!

The With and For Girls Collective was formed in 2014 of just four partners, including EMpower, and has now grown to a group of nine organizations that share the common belief that girls are vital agents of change: Comic Relief, EMpower, FRIDA, Mama Cash, Nike Foundation, NoVo Foundation, Plan UK, Stars Foundation and The Global Fund for Children. In 2017 the Collective committed US$1million to identify and support strong local organizations working to improve the lives of girls (10-19 year-olds).
