From April 5–7, EMpower hosted a learning journey on mental health programmes for young people in South Africa. Forty people from 14 organisations from Cape Town and Johannesburg communities attended. The three-day meeting built on research that we conducted earlier this year and featured interactive discussions among grantee partners and other organisations that address adolescent mental health in South Africa.Posted 15 April 2022 in EMpower News | Share
Since March 2020, EMpower has awarded over $10 million to 129 grantee partner organisations that directly impacted115,000 young people and enabled them to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic. Moving The Needle: Making the Case for Youth Protagonism will underscore the importance of centring young people. The report will focus on foregrounding why it is vital to look at youth protagonism meaningfully in programme design and the potential impact that participatory methodologies can have on young people, their communities, and the ways in which they can strengthen the programme itself.
