EMpower, a global philanthropic organisation, is dedicated to improving the lives and horizons of marginalised young people ages 10-24 in 15 emerging market countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Turkey. Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Programme Officer, this role will support the planning, implementation and monitoring of the project activities, working closely with the Programme team to ensure the successful realization of our initiatives. This is a hybrid position requiring the candidate to be in the office twice a week to foster team collaboration, attend key meetings, and engage in other activities that benefit from face-to-face interaction.

Key responsibilities for this role encompasses the following:

Project Support:

  • Provide administrative and logistic support for ongoing programs and projects; including organising meetings and events.
  • Collaborate with Programme Officers to create and update the project plans; timelines and budgets.
  • Maintain and update accurate records of programme data and project activities.
  • Assist in managing and coordinating with vendors and consultants related to any event, ensuring they align with the project activities.
  • Be responsible for maintaining their invoices and other documents in compliance with the agreements.

Grant Management:

  • Proactively research, screen, and assist the Programme Team in sourcing potential new grantee partners.
  • Lead the due diligence for potential new and existing grantee partners.
  • Assist grant application and review process.
  • Support the evaluation and grant proposals and progress reports.
  • Assist Programme Officers in monitoring grant performance and ensure compliance with grant agreements.
  • Assist in tracking, documentation, and reporting on grants to donors.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct research on relevant topics suggested by the programme team, best practices and trends in the field to enhance our learning.
  • Analyse grant data and information from FLUXX to provide insights that can inform programme decisions.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal teams and external audiences.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Regularly communicate with the youth advisory council members, partner organisations, grantees
  • Assist in organising meetings, workshops and conferences related to programme activities.
  • Help facilitate communication between various stakeholders involved in the programme.

Documentation and reporting

  • Maintain comprehensive records of grants, programme activities, expenses and outcomes.
  • Prepare regular reports for donors, the programme team, senior management, and other stakeholders.

Work Experience

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the philanthropic and /or non-profit sectors in the India region required.
  • Strong organising skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong follow-through.
  • Flexibility with the ability to manage tasks and shift priorities as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and comfortable with learning new database technology.
  • Ability to work with quantitative information such as budgets and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work with a small team in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, demonstrating cultural sensitivity/awareness.
  • Interest in the field of youth development, emerging market countries, and/or effective philanthropy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative and trust-based approaches to philanthropy.
  • Strong English and Hindi speaking and writing abilities.
  • Strong creative, strategic, and analytical thinking skills
  • Professional experience in grant management is strongly desired.
  • Experience with youth empowerment, adolescent girls, gender equality, and youth programming related to reproductive and sexual health, education, or economic well-being strongly desired.
  • Work experience with community-based organisations is strongly desired.

Education Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree related to social work/social sciences, international development, gender, anthropology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Skilled in PC computers and standard software programmes
